[1] What if I have more than one carat?
Not a problem, simply enter the weight of each carat of your gold or platinum in our gold or platinum calculator, if you agree with the estimated value you can proceed with the offer. We will then receive the details of your scrap items, and the weight of each carat. Once we receive your consignment, our testers will weight and test each carat to its exact purity, making sure you receive the most for your scrap.

[2] What if I don’t know the carat value of my scrap gold/platinum?
Gold Forever has over 25 years experience in the gold industry, we can identify the exact purity (carat) of your gold or platinum items. Once we receive your items, they will be tested to confirm their exact purity, and then an offer made based on this, making sure you receive the most for your scrap.

[3] What if my gold isn’t hallmarked?
We accept gold or platinum items which don’t have hallmarks, or the ‘British Hallmark’ because once we receive your items, they will be tested to confirm their exact purity.

[4] How do I send my scrap gold to you?
When filling in the description form after proceeding with your offer from the Gold or Platinum Calculator, you can either choose to have a Prepaid Insured Royal Mail Special Delivery bag sent to you or you can send the scrap items in yourself. We highly recommend that you send your items in by Royal Mail Special Delivery, as these consignments are usually traceable and insured. This is for your own safety as we are not liable for any losses incurred in transit.

If you request a Prepaid Special Delivery bag, we will send you this within 24hours of your request. All you have to do is place your items in the bag, and send it off at the nearest Post Office free of charge! It is insured up to the value of £500, if you items are worth more than this; please pay additional at the Post Office to increase the insured value.

[5] What if I don’t have an accurate scale or I don’t know the weight of my scrap items?
On receipt of your items, we will use our specialist scales finely calibrated to 0.1 gram to check the weight of your items, so it’s not a problem if you don’t know the weight of your scrap or your scale is not accurate.

[6] If my gold weight does not agree with yours what happens?
If any contradiction in the weights occurs, you will be notified immediately.

[7] When will I know you have received my gold?
If you use Royal Mail Special Delivery which is highly recommended, you can use www.royalmail.co.uk to check if we have received your consignment. However, when we receive your items, they are usually valuated straight away and you are contacted promptly.

[8] Is it true that I can receive payment within 24hour?
You have to take in to consideration that we cannot issue any payments until we have received an inspected your items. However, we issue your cheque or bank transfer within 24hours of receiving your items, and if you can receive FPS payments, you will receive the payment in your bank account within 2 hours of us issuing the payment!

[9] What if I change my mind?
If you are not happy with your offer, we will return your items to you via Royal Mail Special Delivery. However, if you have accepted the offer and requested payment, this is an irrevocable transaction and we cannot return the items to you as they are melted and refined.

[10] What happens if the market value of my gold changes after I've sent in my items?
If the market value of your gold/platinum increases when we receive your gold, we will pay you a higher amount per gram than calculated. However, in order to keep this a fair system, if the market prices drop, we must revise the offer accordingly as we are operating on very small margins.

[11] Do you buy coloured gold?
Yes, we also buy white gold and rose gold.

[12] How do I get the money for my gold scrap?
You can either request to have a cheque issued which will cost £2. Or you can have money transferred directly into your bank account the same day we receive your gold, FREE OF CHARGE, and if your bank accepts FPS (Fast Payment System) payments, you will generally have cleared funds in your account within 2 hours of them being transferred from our side, again at no extra cost to yourself. Please use the FPS checker to see if you are able to receive FPS payments.

[13] What if I don’t have a printer?
After filling in the application form, it is advised that you print out your details and enclose it with your consignment. However, if you do not have a printer, just enclose your transaction ID number along with your items, noted on a piece of paper. This will enable us to identify your consignment when it arrives.
